Making LGBTIQ+ visible in old age - against discrimination at every stage of life

On April 30, Robert Heidemann was a guest of the State Working Group of Senior Citizens' Offices in NRW (LaS NRW) and gave a thematic input on “LGBTIQ+ in old age” as part of a practical workshop in Ahlen.

It was an inspiring event with exciting perspectives on diversity in age(ing) - and a great opportunity to see familiar faces again:

  • Nanke Bechthold (former assistant, now LaS NRW & co-host),
  • Lena Kukowka (former assistant, now Kuratorium Deutsche Altershilfe, input on migration),
  • Imke Springer (former assistant, now Generationennetz Gelsenkirchen e.V., participant).

Especially in the run-up to the International Day against Homo-, Bi-, Inter- and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) on May 17, it is important to create visibility and sensitivity for LGBTIQ+ life realities in all phases of life - also and especially in old age.
