Master Plan Science of the City of Dortmund
In Germany's federal system, the cities have so far played little role as partners of science. Yet they make an important contribution to the international competitiveness of science locations. The Master Plan for Science Dortmund takes this into account in that, as part of a joint strategy involving all social forces, it aims on the one hand to strengthen science in Dortmund and on the other hand to allow the city's society to benefit from science.
Based on a rich scientific landscape with six universities and 19 other scientific institutions, the more than 9,100 people employed in Dortmund's science sector are of considerable cultural, educational and social importance for the city's society. In four thematic areas, players from the science sector will work together and strengthen Dortmund as a city of science.
