On the road for the Ninth Ageing Report

Martina Brandt has been particularly active in recent weeks on behalf of the Ninth Ageing Report, communicating its key messages to practitioners and policymakers: from the commission directly into the discussion!

Insights, outlooks & debates:

  • Diversity & inequality (Hanover): At the 29th BaS annual conference, she highlighted the “diversity of potential and inequality of opportunities” among older people in her opening speech. The focus was on promoting potential and addressing existing inequalities. The “perspective discussion” on intergenerational dialogue was also exciting!
  • Knowledge meets state committee (Düsseldorf): At the Schlösschen in Düsseldorf, Prof. Brandt presented the core messages and interim findings of the 9th Ageing Report to the North Rhine-Westphalia State Committee on Ageing and Care. A strong signal for evidence-based policy-making!
  • Conclusion and outlook (Dortmund): As chair of the 9th Ageing Report Commission, she took stock of the report's reception and impact to date at the symposium in Dortmund. At the same time, she provided an outlook on municipal senior citizen policy and the topic of the 10th Ageing Report (“Education and Learning in Old Age”).

An inspiring exchange that shows how important the bridge between science and senior citizen policy practice is.
