FAIRGENs Research Project Launches

We are playing a central role in this exciting project by leading Work Package 7 on “Intergenerational Care and Well-Being in Europe.” Using comprehensive longitudinal data (such as the European SHARE study), we are examining how taking on caregiving responsibilities and receiving family support affect well-being—particularly in the second half of life.
A particular focus of our research is on how gender norms, social inequalities, and the varying European care systems shape these dynamics and the burden of care. Together with our 12 partners from across Europe, we are working to develop scientifically grounded recommendations for a concrete European Policy Action Plan that will support policymakers in shaping a more equitable future.
